This Website Offers Technical Assistance to Achieve Results!
Since 2008, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has been using the Policy Academy (PA) model to engage interagency teams from states and territories to support the development of strategic plans for strengthening the behavioral health systems for service members, veterans, and their families (SMVF). The SMVF Technical Assistance Center (SMVF TA Center) has been working with state and territory teams providing technical assistance and training to PA graduates and supporting the engagement of new states and territories in the process.
Under the direction of SAMHSA, the SMVF TA Center has created this online portal to serve as the “Go To” resource for PA graduates as they refine and implement their strategic plans. This website brings federal, state, and local leaders together with subject matter experts, creating a platform to share information and resources. Through the exchange of ideas, best practices and lessons learned, we can work together to improve policies that influence the accessibility, responsiveness, and effectiveness of behavioral health services serving SMVF.
We hope the resources available on this website help strengthen the behavioral health system in your community! This website will be routinely updated with new information. Teams are encouraged to make suggestions and send materials to be posted.
